Appliqué is a process that I have done many times over the past 30 years. For the most part, I used it as a way to cut down on my stitch count on large jacket back designs. I have also done a lot of the sports or twill appliqué, but I did most of that on a zig zag machine not the embroidery machine until the past few years.
In just the past couple of years there has been so many different types of appliqué that have sprung on the scene and it is totally different than what I had done in the previous year but the effect is really beautiful. It is not used to cut down on stitch count anymore; it is used to create different effects.
